18C APPROVAL OF MINUTES
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Below is typical wording used for approving of the Minutes.
NOTE: the minutes do not require a (vote) show of hands for approval.
After the minutes have been read:
If there are NO additions, deletions, or corrections
WM: Brethren, you have heard the reading of the minutes. Are there any additions, deletions, or corrections? Hearing none, the minutes stand approved as read at the sound of the gavel in the East.
If there are any additions, deletions, or corrections
WM: Brethren, you have heard the reading of the minutes. Are there any additions, deletions, or corrections? The minutes stand approved as corrected at the sound of the gavel in the East.
For matters requiring a hand vote of the Lodge, here is some suggested wording.
WM: Brethren, it has been regularly moved and seconded to ____________________________________.
Is there any discussion? (after discussion) the WM restates the motion and says:
WM: Brethren, it has been regularly moved and seconded to ___________________________________________. All those in favor will vote by the usual sign of a Mason at the sound of the gavel in the East.
All opposed; same sign, same sound. The motion has passed (failed).
Remember, the Worshipful Master DOES NOT have to take any action on any motion made and seconded. It is his prerogative to table, or just take no action.
