25-4 Awards to be presented Overview
Secretary’s How to Guide
Awards to be presented: Overview
The Secretary’s responsibilities can seem overwhelming, if the Secretary tries to do everything. Awards presentations are the responsibility of the Worshipful Master. Therefore, when the Secretary receives an Awards Certificate and pin from the Grand Lodge, during the anniversary month of the award, the secretary is not responsible for actually presenting the award. The Secretary should establish a procedure to ensure that the award is not incorrectly filed and not presented, that the Worshipful Master is informed so that he can schedule the presentation in Lodge or at the members’ home, and that a process is in place to ensure the timely presentation of the award.
The checklist that follows this Overview provides a starting point for a Lodge Secretary to develop his own process.
The Member Contact Information template is an example of a page that can be created using the Microsoft Word mail merge feature, with the Microsoft Excel lodge membership database.
