19B Guidelines for CALLERS

Melbourne Lodge No. 143, F. & A.M.

Phone Calling Committee

Guidelines for CALLERS (Version 1.02 March 1, 2009)

Purpose: To make verbal contact with all members who live within driving distance of Melbourne Lodge. Upon completion of contacting these local members, we will call all out of town members. The results of each call will be returned to the chairman of the Phone Calling Committee on the form provided for each Brother being called.

Suggested procedure:

Each member of the committee will receive TEN names on separate reporting forms, where each form will include name, address, phone number, date of birth and date Raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason, along with the script. The suggested script below is provided to insure some consistency for each call so that the Lodge Database can be updated in a meaningful and consistent manner.

The script for the call could be something along the lines of the following:

a. Introduce yourself by name and indicate you are calling for Melbourne Lodge 143.

b. Indicate to each person called that the lodge is calling every member of the lodge.

c. How are you?

Use the following questions which are provided to assist you in your conversation and for completing the information needed to update the Lodge database.

I am relatively new to the Lodge and don’t recall meeting you. Have you been in Lodge lately? If not, is there a specific reason for which I can provide assistance?

The Stated Communications are for business, but are kept to a minimum by paraphrasing or summarizing minutes and correspondences. Prior to the meeting the Junior Warden and Stewards prepare top quality meals for your enjoyment. You are welcome to bring your wife, family, and friends to these pre-meeting dinners. The Worshipful Master’s goal is to keep the meeting short so that the Brothers can enjoy dessert and fellowship.

The Called Communications are for Degrees and Catechism Proficiency.

When a Stated Communication is canceled, it is replaced with a Social Meeting. The evening is dedicated to a dinner and when finished, all will retire to the Lodge Room, where there will be a speaker or some other agenda that will also be interesting to your family and friends, such as Bible and Apron presentations to new Master Masons. Does this sound like something you would be interested in attending?

The officers of the Lodge are bringing FUN back into Masonry and working hard to COMMUNICATE with our members. To be successful, we need your input.
