Postage Due Account – Overview
If your Lodge has a Post Office Box it becomes very inconvenient to wait in line, during business hours, to pay Postage Due and other Post Office fees. A little known secret is that customers can setup a Postage Dues account at the Post Office where the Lodge Post Office Box is located.
A problem that might be encountered is that many Postal Clerks are not familiar with this customer service feature. Either the Post Master or the person who manages the postal finances at a branch with be familiar with this service.
Use the New Permit Application included in this Secretary’s How to Guide to establish a Postage Dues Account for your Lodge. A sample is filled in for your assistance. A check must accompany the application. Now the Secretary does not have to wait in lines and he can pick up mail after normal business hours. There will be a notice in the mail box indicating that the Lodge Postage Due Account has been debited.
